When you toil in words all day long, clever word play just becomes a passion project. Maybe your wordplay makes its way out into the world as a silly pun or maybe it’s just a small change to a well-worn phrase that wouldn’t even earn a second glance from most.

Still, it’s a rare chance that writers get to flex this muscle on any kind of headline project. Oddly enough, that’s not what these really are. But, when you’re the Internet’s own Dong Draper, you’ll find anyway to make even the most benign assignment an engine of envy. Though, through my jealousy of these banner ads for JetBlue I’ve found a core belief I hold, reifornced by these executions. Web banners can be pretty damn dun to work on.

There’s not much going on here and there doesn’t need to be. But, these are just some slick lines working really hard for a few clicks. Beautiful, really. I’d rather have a book full of these rather than one first quarter Super Bowl spot. No, that’s not true…but, it kind of is.
